The studies being done give a new meaning to the work medic alert Dog. Dogs are being tested and trained to detect things like Parkinson's Disease.
They have a higher accuracy than medical tests.

Dog test results don't suffer from human error and the results are immediate. If the dog smells the disease he tells you right away.
We definitely need to work more with dogs for medical detection. One skilled dog could do more work than a human and would probably be a cheaper alternative to costly testing labs. This is research with animals that could actually benefit us and the dogs could live happy normal lives when they are not working. We need more of this area of study. Everyone would benefit.
