It is an amazing picture. The duck is actually a common merganser. The ducklings are often left in the care of one female.
It does seem a bit much to leave 76 ducklings with one female, but she seems to be handling it.

It took a bit of patience and a lot of shots, but it is an amazing picture. I would love to have seen it in person.

Oh...   75 ducklings! I am glad I don't have her job! That is like 2 or 3 classrooms of children. That would be interesting for about 2 hours. Then it would get to be very hard work

She is like the teacher who is in charge of watching the playground during recess. She can't really do anything. She just has to hope they all follow her. She might not even realize how many ducklings she has behind her. Maybe they just join the line. I am wondering if the other mama ducks just drop them off. Do they come back for them later? Ducks are more complicated than they look.
