1000 animals repatriated to Madagascar.

In Dec of 2024, 1000 animals were returned to Madagascar. These were animals that had been trafficked and rescued. The animals were vulnerable and endangered tortoises and lemurs.

This was a tremendous undertaking. A number of groups worked together to make it happen.

Now as a follow-up to the story, the animal traffickers who were caught, have now been convicted.

This really matters. If we are going to stop the illegal trade in endangered species, we need to stop the traffickers. 
Their actions need to have real consequences. This is starting to happen. The traffickers are getting actual  jail time.
It is no longer a matter of paying a small fine. This disrupts their enterprises. At some point, animal trafficking is no longer worth the risks to the traffickers.
It is an ongoing fight, but this is a major victory.
