Injured seabird knocks on emergency ward door to get help

A Cormorant got a fish hook stuck in his beak. It was painful and dangerous for the bird. The bird did the unexpected, it knocked on the door of an emergency department. They were able to remove the hook and later send the bird on its way.

Animals are smart. The bird needed help and somehow it figured out where to get help. I can understand the bird asking people for help.
How did it know to go to an ER? I would love to know how the bird knew where to go.
