Father throws daughter's kittens in the river

He threw the kittens in the river, yelling that he wanted them to die. Fortunately the kittens were rescued and all survived.
The man has been charged and found guilty.

The man was drunk, but that doesn't excuse what he did. He wanted the kittens to die.
He is lucky the kittens survived. The charges and sentence would have been worse if the kittens died.
There is just no excusing this behavior. There were places that could have taken the kittens.
He chose animal cruelty instead. I wonder what his daughter thought about this.

When I was a teenager, I lived about five minutes walk from this bridge! It is a nice area and horrible to think that it was the scene of this cruel act.

Animal cruelty is taken pretty seriously in the UK. The sentence was suspended, but if he goes off the straight and narrow then he faces prison immediately.

I wonder why, if the man is homeless, his daughter entrusted the kittens to him?

It is strange to think of you knowing that bridge. 
I wondered why she gave the kittens to her father. Did she know he was homeless?
I wonder what her situation is?

England is serious about animal cruelty. Look how quickly the kittens were rescued.
There are many places that would have taken the kittens.
If he had left them in a box somewhere, they would have been looked after.
He really deliberately chose to kill them.
Any small infraction will get him sent to prison.
I suspect being drunk in public would be enough.
