A couple in Nova Scotia donated 12 hectares of land to the Nova Scotia Nature Trust. This land is needed by the Blanding Turtles if they are to survive.
Their numbers are low and protecting this area gives them a safe space for egg laying.

The husband died days before the donation was finalized, but he knew it was happening. The whole donation is a beautiful memorial to him and the couple's love for each other. We don't need monuments to people, we need living remembrances. We can't all make such large donations, but we can at least plant a tree or some wildflowers if we want to remember someone.
