Gordo is an endangered Massassauga Rattlesnake. He was raised at Toronto Zoo and released at the Ojiibway Prairie Complex. He traced his lineage back to snakes that were rescued 25 years ago. Before he left the Toronto Zoo he did breed with Ashley. Sadly Gordo was killed by a car months ago. Happily Ashley turned out to be pregnant. She has given birth to 7 babies. Gordo's legacy lives on. The hatchlings will winter at the Toronto Zoo and will be released next spring.

It is sad that Gordo was killed, but he lives on in his 7 offspring. His life was brief, but he will have played an important role is saving his species in the area.
With continued conservation efforts the Massassauga Rattlesnakes will be fully restored in the area. Thank=you Gordo for the part you played.
