Toronto Zoo Giraffs get new home for Christmas
#1
The Toronto Zoo giraffes have a nice new indoor house to enjoy on those days when they cannot go outside. It also means we can go inside and see them in the winter.

Right now there are only two, a mother and daughter, but the herd size should increase soon. They have a beautiful outdoor area to go with it so they are very comfortable. Now I just need a day where I can go out to see them.

I am glad they have a nice indoor place to go during the winter. It must get horribly cold for them in Toronto during the winter months, as Giraffes are adapted to the conditions in Africa.
It's nice to see the Zoo doing what they can to protect this species.

The zoo has been good with the giraffes. There are only two right now because the old ones have died recently, but they had good long lives. There old set up was fine, but the new one is better and the public can see them in the winter.
The animals all do very well in the winter. They can't go out if it is icy, but we usually have enough warm days and they have sheltered areas where the sun warms things nicely. They get lots of fresh green leaves from the huge green houses and there is a good hay supply here.

At least they can live in safety with no fear of poachers.
