I didn't know about this. I had just heard the hype (lies) that live baiting had long stopped. In reality, it clearly is still quite commonplace. This practice is sickening, appalling, debased. It must be stopped.
I couldn't bear to watch the video to the end. I got so upset that I closed it. But the people who did this exposure of the lies and cruelty have done a wonderful job. Many prominent people will lose their place in the "sport" - deservedly.

I also couldn't watch any more when it got to the Possum and the piglet. This does need publicity, and it does need to be seen however. And it needs to be stopped. I could tell by that woman's face at the beginning that she was lying. What some humans do for money......it is unbelievable.

I knew the dogs also suffered abuse. I just didn't know the numbers. I know many dogs are killed each year because they no longer run or they are not fast enough.
My area seems to be the end stop on a greyhound rescue operation. I see a lot of greyhounds and people will tell you they are rescues. I am sure for everyone rescued, many more die.
I didn't realize how bad their living conditions are or how little proper care they get.
I think the whole industry is so rotten that it needs to be banned once and for all. It would be much the same in any country that has dog racing so it needs to be banned globally.
Any "sport" that starts with animal abuse and exploitation is no real sport. There is no place for it in a modern and enlightened, more compassionate world. We need to work together to pressure counties into banning dog racing(and a whole lot of other things)

Although I couldn't watch the video to the end, I did see quite a few of the famous faces being exposed (quite clearly in many cases). One of the men took his young daughter along to the "training", to watch the poor animals being mauled and suffer and die painful deaths. Sickening.
I am so glad that the video has evoked a strong response. Pulling of sponsorship is an excellent development.
Greyhounds are naturally such quiet, gentle creatures. They are not aggressive at all. That is why these sick "trainers" have to instill the desire to kill, taste blood, etc. Greyhounds make excellent pets and when I was younger had a whippet, called Marcus, who was one of the gentlest animals on this earth.

My neighbourhood is full of rescue greyhounds and they are all really sweet.
The video shows the faces of all the big names in racing. It could blow the whole industry apart. The average person does not care about dog racing either way, but they do not like cruelty. Animals Australia has been doing some serious campaigns so the public is already sensitized.
Loss of sponsors is great news. Companies do not want their names linked to animal cruelty. The sponsors are needed to fund the racing industry. Without it I don't know if they can continue to put on races. Certainly the prize money could dry up

I meet quite a few Greyhounds when out and about, and every one I have met is a lovely peaceful dog. They simply are not aggressive types.
Many dogs do have a 'prey drive', which is their genetic heritage. But some far less than others. And to brutalise a gentle dog has to be one of the meanest cruelties, as it gets to the dog's mind, not only its body.
I am so very glad to see the response to this, Catherine. That is wonderful. We must keep the pressure on.
