Family rescues pets during a fire
#1
You have to admire people who are willing to risk their lives to save their pets. They are going to be okay and most of the pets made it. They did lose some birds, a rat and I believe a snake died.

I am glad to see that the firemen were willing to give oxygen to the lizards.

It is sad that not all of the animals made it, but they did their best and that is why most of them lived. When firemen do this they at least have protective gear. These people just wanted to save their pets from danger.
They are heroes as far as I am concerned.

The family is doing well and their neighbours are helping with their pets. The local reptile store is looking after their reptiles until they sort out their house and get it ready to live in.

It is nice to know that in an emergency everyone responds to the needs of people with pets.

It's so wonderful that the neighbours and community all came together to help the Brickmans and their animals.

Deep-frying is something many of us do without a second thought. But it can be so very dangerous! My mother regularly cooked "chips" as we call them here, with a pan full of fat. My aunt, in her 80s still does. I will never do them that way any more.

Too many of the fires we hear about are from deep frying. It is very dangerous to do in your own kitchen. I never cook like that. We had a special heavy pan for deep frying when I was a kid. Also we never left the pan alone.

It is terrific how the community is helping them. I am not surprized about the reptile store helping them. The reptile community rescues its own. We look after each other pets and generally rehome anything that needs a new home.

That was an amazing image of a firefighter giving oxygen to a bearded dragon. I just hope the reptiles survive long term. Snakes would not handle smoke inhalation too well. They only have one lung.

So you're very unlikely to see a snake doing this then?

No smoking snakes and they don't wear hats either.

From the pictures it looks like they just picked up the tanks and rescued them that way. That makes sense and I may think my fire safety plan.

The shall rodents came out cage and all as well. That would be faster than trying to catch them. They must have had some idea of getting the animals out. In the short time they had they got most animals out alive. They did well and so did their neighbours.
