Tragic Oil spill along the California Coast
#1
It seems any time you have a pipe line(or tanker) you have a spill.
This one is bad.
So many animals are in its path and many will die because of it.
I heard on the news that a mother whale and her calf had already died. Smiley19
The toxic effects of this will be felt for years.

So many of the species in the area are already vulnerable and at risk.
It is an area of great beauty and now it is covered in oil and unusable by human or animal.
Tell me again why we need pipelines. They are not worth the risk.

There is more footage of the results of the oil spill. The loss of animal life is going to be terrible before this is all over. There is no way pipelines are safe. We have way too many spills and wildlife always ends up paying the price.

I don't like the attitude of this article, but the information is good.

It breaks my heart to see all the animals dying because they had the misfortune to live near a human made disaster. I don't see the people who make profits off the pipeline down on the beach shoveling waste or cleaning oil coated animals.

It is for reasons like this that everyone should make more of a fuss about not letting Shell drill the Arctic.

Indeed. And sometimes it is for reasons like this that I'm almost ashamed to be human! We are ruining what used to be a beautiful world.

We have spilled oil in so many places now. Even after 25 years the Exon Valdez spill is not fully cleaned up.
The loss of animal life is still ongoing. So many animals are unable to survive the contamination even though the volunteers do an admirable job of trying to save them.

Allowing Shell to drill in the Arctic is immoral. We owe the planet better than that.

We are also battling pipelines in Canada. They want to built in some sensitive areas. There will be a leak. There always is. We will put so much at risk if we let these pipelines go through.
It is an election year. This may be the key issue for me. Governments make many mistakes, but this one we can't let happen.
