Oops, I let the dove out.
#1
I was cleaning the doves and I left the door of the cage open.

An hour later there is only one dove in the cage not two. I stood there and counted and recounted, but there was only one dove.

I crawled around on the floor looking under everything for my lost dove. An hour later, I had to go out. I turned towards the landing and there on the ledge, watching me was my little dove.

He has wings, why didn't I think of looking up?
I spend too much time with reptiles.Smiley4

Perhaps he was checking whether the wood on the landing was properly dovetailed! (OK, OK, I'll get my hat....)

Maybe he was looking for something.
Later in the day, Dora, his mate laid an egg and now she is sitting on the nest. Virgil is being very protective and sits near her when I go near the cage.

I think I saw him on the nest while she was feeding. I am not sure. They look so much alike.
I have no idea how long the eggs take to hatch.
I don't know if they will hatch.

I know what they say about counting your chickens before they hatch. I can't even see if there is more than one egg. So I am guardedly excited.Shy
