Orphaned polar bears arrive safe in Winnipeg
#1
Winnipeg is the home of the Assiniboine Park Zoo. The zoo has set up a facility to accommodate orphaned polar bears. As the say, it is not ideal, the cubs should still be with mom. Sadly in this and other cases, the mom has been killed. Without her, the cubs have no chance at all.
It is the best we can do under the circumstances.

Winnipeg is my birth place and I grew up in sight of Assiniboine Park. I am proud of the work they are doing to preserve the polar bears.
They are also doing a lot to educate people about them and also educate them about climate change.
For these two bears it means a chance to live.

It's good to see the little ones are being cared for so well. I wish them all the best for the future.

It is sad that there are so many orphaned bears. I suspect it is linked to climate change. The bears are having a harder time finding food and that can lead to mishaps.

Winnipeg is the best place for a bear sanctuary. It is still very cold there and it is directly south of Churchill. It makes sense to send to bears there from remote parts of Manitoba.

I agree, I hope they do well.
