The Capybaras are still loose in Toronto
#1
There is a tiny little "zoo" with a few animals who live comfortable in High Park, a large park near where I live.  This morning two of their Capybaras got out while they were shirting them.  High Park is a large wooded park with a large pond and some small streams. It is a perfect place for a capybara to take a vacation.

Good luck getting them back. Until winter sets in they can do very well on their own.

Last year it was a Peacock on the loose, this year capybaras. High Park is an interesting place. The Peacock headed back on his own. I wouldn't count on the Capybaras doing that. They may need a large supply of special treats to even get them to come out of hiding.  I am sure they have found a perfect resting place and are munching away on local vegetation. They are pretty big so they should be easy to spot.

Another day and still no Capybaras.  There have been supposed sightings miles away, but it is doubtful it is them. They are probably hiding in High Park enjoying the warm weather and abundance of natural food.

They have a "show" Capybara helping in the search. Willow is also helping people to know what a Capybara looks like.

We have had some interesting escapes over the years.

I understand they have teams of people stationed all over the park and feeding stations to attract them. It is a big park and they would blend in so well. They could be in the pond hiding under vegetation. I hope they are found like last years peacock who flew around for a few days.

No they are definitely not dangerous. I am sure they feel quite at home. I suspect they are in the pond o one of the small streams.

This is like last years peacock escape. It provided excitement for local residents and then it flew home on its own.

Hopefully they stay safe wherever they are.

They are still out there and no one has seen them. I think they are eating their way through the park and me might not see them until fall.

It seems there has been a sighting after all.

Maybe I should go capybara hunting. At least I know what they look like.

People were out searching all night for them. This has become a real Toronto project. Everyone wants to find the capybaras.

There are people out there with special heat sensors looking for them in the bush areas.

Come home capybaras, we miss you.

I don't know where the capybaras are, but they are being "seen" all over the place.  The whole thing would be hilarious if it were not so worrying that the real capybaras are out there.

Maybe I will spot them in my garden tomorrow. Smiley4
