Orangutan freed from crate
#1
There is a serious problem with orangutans Borneo. Because of the palm oil plantations orangutans are being killed and their babies orphaned. These end up sol d as pets and live under terrible conditions until they are rescued.

Amy is one such orangutan. International Animal Rescue found her in a crate in someone's yard. Supposedly she was only there for a month, but the welts around her neck from the chains tell another story. She was kept in such a cramped space that her back is hunched.

It is tragic that her mother was killed. It is worse that she was keep for so long in bad conditions. She has no skills as an orangutan. Amy will be cared for at a Rescue Centre and she will grow well and learn.   She is around seven right now. Who knows if she can learn enough to live in the wild.

International Animal Rescue is doing what it can for orangutans.

Any's is one of many stories. Everywhere they produce palm oil, the produce orangutan orphans whose fate is often heartbreaking. Who knows how many baby orangutans die before being rescued.

Please avoid palm oil products. Orangutans like Amy will thank you.
