Earth Hour:  What it is and why we do it.

I should have posted this yesterday. I keep forgetting I am time zone challenged and Australia is already there.

So happy Earth Hour 2017!

There are so many things I could post, but the video in this one is good.

My reptile lights are on timers, but I can change the off setting so they shut off in time for Earth Hour. It is a little thing, but it symbolizes a commitment to change.
However you celebrate Earth Hour the important thing is that you are aware that it needs to be celebrated.

I heard about Earth Hour, and thought I would just go out in the night for a walk in the orchard, or would stay in and light a candle.
But....I have to be honest...when it actually happened I completely forgot about it and what time it was. Unless spending 1 hour -(yes it was more or less at that exact time) -sitting in Sally cat's room, with a little LED battery lantern and a torch would count. But I didn't have absolutely no electrics going, because classic FM was playing on low volume.

You and Sally cat spent earth Hour in exactly the right way. You used very little electricity. In some ways, the fact that you forgot and yet still honored the spirit of Earth Hour is a sign that you always live life in a way that respects the earth.

The real purpose of Earth Hour is to get people thinking about how much electricity we use. We reduce our usage for an hour and hopefully it will get us thinking for the rest of the year.
