Starting an animal sanctuary
#1
One Australian woman did just that, she moved out of the city to Hunter valley and set up a sanctuary for farm animals.
They bought the land and then spent a year preparing it before they started to bring in animals. They even worked species by species so that they could learn about them and how to care for them  properly.

It is interesting to read about what Debbie Pearce has done. If you are planning to start  a shelter I think reading this is a must.
You could probably contact her for advice. It takes more than a love for animals to successfully open a shelter and keep it going. It takes careful planning and organizing so that the shelter can keep going after animals have been rescued. After all, once you have taken them in, you want to be able  to look after them for years to come.

Well done Hunter Valley Sanctuary!
