Land clearing kills animals
#1
I came across an article that talks about how clearing land in Australia kills more than the trees. It also kills the animals in the area. They lose their habitat and any source of food and protection. For smaller animals that have small territories there is no possibility of them surviving. The numbers of animals that die each year as a result of land clearing  is in the millions.

As you can see that is no small loss of animal lives. Land clearing is deadly. The laws fail to protect animals. Animals are not even considered when permits are given for land clearing.

Clearly this needs to change. The laws need to be reformed to protect animals. The whole issue of land clearing needs to be evaluated. Is it necessary? Can it be done in a less harmful manner?
Whatever happens and however things are changed, it can't continue to be acceptable to kill millions of animals every year.

This is a problem in Australia, but if you look at it, clear cutting of forest elsewhere(and burning of forests) has the same result. Animals die and ecosystems are lost. The whole world needs to wake up. Cutting and burning forests to create palm oil plantations is killing the orangutans. Everywhere that forests are cut there is a different and devastating impact on animal life.
This is something that we must act on before species and ecosystems are lost forever.

This is so sad and terrible. Yes the laws need to be changed!

We rush to make a quick profit by clearing land and using it. That money comes at too high a price. We have destroyed the habitats and  lives of animals in all parts of  the world.

We need to stop before it is too late.

On a practical level we  can reject things grown on clear cut land. It takes more time to shop, but we can do it.
