Restore the ecosystems instead of a border wall
#1
There is much talk of building a wall between Mexico and the USA. The environmental impact will be very bad.
It has been proposed that instead of a wall, it would make more sense to restore the Rio Grande and all of the ecosystems that exist along the border. The river is much smaller now because so much of its water has been taken for agriculture, city uses and the effects of climate change.

A better solution to the shared border would be green initiatives that restore the land and create large binational parks.

It is brilliant forward thinking. It would be sustainable and it would benefit people in the area for generations to come.
If even a portion of the ideas are used the benefits would be immense. When ever you restore wetlands you mitigate the effects of drought and flooding. Green spaces would improve air and water quality.

Can you imagine the effect on people's lives to have green spaces to enjoy as compared to having a wall.
I am sure it would have a good economic impact. There would be an increase in tourism which always brings in money.
These ideas are a positive step and I hope there are people with vision and imagination who will at least consider them.
