National Wildlife Day
#1
National Wildlife Day is actually celebrated on Sept 4 in remembrance of Steve Irwin who died on that day. So I am a day late. Next year it will be celebrated on Feb 22 to commemorate Steve Irwin's birthday.(I just know I will be mentioning this on Feb 23)

There is also a World Wildlife day, celebrated by the United Nations.

Given the way wildlife is disappearing we almost need to have a wildlife day every month.
So many species are declining in numbers that it is an emergency. If we don't take it seriously, wildlife could be a thing of the past.
Extinction is forever.

I don't want to have to tell future generations that tigers, giraffes and elephants  disappeared on my watch. If we don't work hard to save all wildlife there will be losses. We have already lost too much. It is going to take all of us to prevent the tragedy of extinction from wiping out many species. I just hope everyone caring is enough.
