Couples staying together for the sake of the pets

Times have changed and it seems that couples who get a pet together will sometimes stay together for the sake of the  pet. They don't want to disrupt the pet's life by breaking up.

Pets do go through anxiety when the family breaks up. I think it is sweet to want to spare the pet. I am sure joint custody wouldn't work to well. Having the pet stay a week with one person and then a week with the other is not going to work. It doesn't work well with children. 
Maybe staying together is the best way to give the pet a happy life.

Perhaps the pet could keep the family home and the people could alternate weeks at home with the pet.

It still looks like staying together gives the pet the most stable life.

So don't get a pet together unless you are sure you want to be together.
