Seafaring Pets

It seems that there is quite a history of seafaring pets. As soon as we went to sea our pets came with us. We don't hear a lot about these animals, but they are there in pictures of ship's crew. They were there long before we were able to take pictures, possibly thousands of years before.

It is interesting to think that we spread around the globe because we were able to build ships. Cats spread around the globe because they were willing to travel in those ships with us. Dogs have always been willing to travel with us. The article doesn't talk about it, but we know that birds traveled on ships with us, especially parrots. 

That leads me to wonder if we will take our pets into space with us. I bet we do.
