Toxic Red Tide along Florida coast
#1
There is a serious Red Tide along the Florida coast right now. Many fish have died and it is so bad that a state of emergency has been declared in some areas.
Sadly many turtles and manatees have also died.

The wildlife loses are terrible. So many animals have died.

The red tide algae is naturally occurring, but it is made worse by human activity. The chemicals in fertilizers do make the algae problem worse. There is a possible link to runoff from sugar plants.

Any industry or human activity that adds chemicals to the water  is probably part of the problem. We tend to treat the ocean as a giant garbage can and it is coming back to bite us. It is not just the problem of the oceans being full of plastic, there are also problems of the oceans being full of chemicals we have dumped. The result is an abnormal algae growth that is killing ocean life.
People are upset because businesses are losing money, but the animals are actually dying. That is a little more serious.
So far the red tide is showing no sign of easing up. So how many animals will die before this is over and what do we plan to do about it.
