This is sad for the people especially at a time like that. You would think that vet could have shown a little mercy and not just gone by the rule book in that circumstance.
Vets here have an out-of-hours fee, which used to be £100 or £95 or something discounting any other work or treatment. That fee operated during any out of hours service including weekends. Anyone working at a practice would have to charge that fee if that was the policy there.
Once Misty had a funny turn and I rushed her to the vet on a Saturday. Well that cost £100 even before the vet looked at her or checked her over.
As soon as she got there she perked up. It ended with the vet giving her a dog biscuit which she ate happily.
I sad to her (and to the vet!) "That is the most expensive dog biscuit I have ever bought you Misty. Eat it a bit more slowly!"
