17 dogs die in Australia because of pet food
#1
Pet food is being investigated in Australia as the cause of death of 17 dogs. It is not clear yet what about the food caused the deaths. What is clear is that there is a gap in the regulation of pet food in Australia.
People bought the food in good faith and they essentially  poisoned their own pets with it. Losing your pet is bad enough. Knowing that you made the choice of the food makes it worse.

Pet food needs to be better regulated in many countries. This is not the first  time pet food has killed pets.  It is important that Australia use this incident to put in new protections and regulations for the pet food industry. Certainly a better recall system would help.

North America went through this years ago with pet food that was contaminated with plastic. Many animals died and many more were left with kidney damage. Some died after eating the food just once.
