Hawaiian Coral Reefs stabilizing
#1
In 2015 the coral reefs around Hawaii suffered a major bleaching event.  They have been studying the coral at a number of sites ever since.  The good news is that the coral is stabilizing which is a step on the road to recovery.

It is not surprizing that more isolated coral reefs are doing better than ones more exposed to humans. It is also interesting that the reefs do worse when there are multiple factors stressing them. That means removing a stressor even a small one will have a significant impact. Understanding the problem is  important if we are to help the coral reefs to survive. Just having them stabilize is a cause for hope.

I hope they can apply this knowledge to coral reefs elsewhere in time to save them.
