Saving the Honey Bees from mites
#1
Mites are a serious problem for Honey Bees. The Varroa Destructor Mite is a parasite on Honey Bees and has caused serious losses. They are not native to North America and were brought here from Asia 30 years ago.
Treating the mites is hard to do without harming the bees.
There have been attempts to find other mites that will kill the Varroa mites. It is an area that needs more research.

The ideal would be a mite or other insect that would kill the harmful mite without harming the bees. Whether that will be possible only time will tell. Until then bee keepers are doing the best they can with the treatments that are on hand. We just have to hope that something is found in time to save our bees. Without them the many crops we rely on will not be there.
I wish the scientists every success in their research.
