Horses should wear stiped pajamas
#1
A study was done about the effects of zebra stripes on biting insects. It was a complicated study, but the stripes seem to help protect zebras from insect bites. They put stiped blankets on horses and it seemed to offer some protection.
They still have to study details about the type of stripes, but in places and times when flies are bad, a striped blanket could make life much better for horses.

It would be pretty funny to see a field of horses all in stripped blankets. Still, if it helped protect the horses from harm it would be worth it. I wonder how the horses feel about the striped pajamas.

This is fascinating! I hadn't heard of that before! Horses are terribly plagued by biting insects.

(in fact....so am I! I might resort to wearing stripy clothes all summer....and see if it works for humans too.... Smiley4 )

Now that is a business opportunity for someone who designs/sells tack 28

It would be worth a try. You could test out various types of stripes and see if anything gives you protection. It would make walks outside more pleasant if you were insect free.

I almost never get bitten even when the people around me are being eaten alive. It is not fair and I have no idea why.

Once they determine what works best they could design something for horses that would protect them. It could be a light weight nylon covering that would keep the flies off.  I am sure the horses would love it. I wonder if the stripes have to be black and white? Do they have to be straight stripes or could they be weird stiped designs? This could be a very good business opportunity.
