Trade in Animal Parts Fueled by Greed.
#1
The illegal trade in animal parts is a very lucrative business. People do it for the money. It is big business and it is an organized crime business. Trade in animal parts is the fourth biggest after drugs, guns and human trafficking.
Fighting it is a serious business.
Different countries have different agencies and methods, but it is all part of the same fight to stop the destruction of species for the purposes of profit.

The alarming thing is how many stories I found about big busts in the illegal animal parts trade. These are the ones we hear about. There are going to be many more that don't make it into the international news. Worse, there are going to be many times when the shipments of animal parts were not intercepted. As long as they are making money the trade will still continue.
Law enforcement is fighting an uphill battle if they don't find a way to make it unprofitable.

Of course if people would stop buying the products there would be no more market for the animal parts and the whole thing would become unprofitable. Since it is fueled by greed, the greedy would move on to something else.  Sadly the most obvious solution is the least likely. I don't know why anyone would want these things, but many people do. A lot of humans are not nice people.
