Australia has lost 30% of Koalas as wildfires spread
Australia is in the midst of a wildfire crisis. Massive fires have been burning for months and are still burning in some areas.
Sadly many animals have fallen victim to the fires. Koalas in particular have been hard hit. The Environment Minister estimates that as many as 30% of koalas might have been lost.

A number of Canadian firefighters are now in Australia to help battle the fires. They are from different parts of Canada and have had experience battling our wildfires in our summer months.

Continued drought conditions and extreme heat are making these fires difficult to control.
Since this is an ongoing emergency we don't know how bad things will get or how long it will last. I will post more as I learn more.
