Climate change complicates pet ownership
#1
Climate change is effecting the world we all live in. That means it is effecting the world our pets live in.
A dog in transit with an airline in Australia  died on the tarmac when a plane was delayed. The extreme heat was too much for him.
This has caused airlines flying in Australia to rethink their rules about pets traveling. They are especially concerned about certain breeds of dogs and those breeds will be restricted.
Australia is feeling the effects of climate change intensely right now. Other parts of the world will be feeling the same effects soon enough.
It could become complicated to consider a vacation with a pet. In the extreme heat walking a dog may become unsafe for the dog.

There are issues around the effects of pet food production on the environment. We may need to try and locally source our pet food in the future.

Climate change is going to effect our lives in many ways, some of them unexpected. When you think of climate change you think of rising sea levels. You don't think of it being too hot to walk the dog.  We may find that climate change disrupts every part of our lives.
There may be pets we can't have if we don't have air conditioning. It bears thinking about. It is too easy to think that climate change doesn't effect us if we don't live near the ocean.  If we don't work to reverse things, climate change will effect all parts of all our lives.
