113 animal species in urgent need of help in Australia
#1
A number of Australian animal species were in need of help before the fires. Now that number is much higher.
It doesn't look like any species has actually become extinct because of the fires, but some are very much on the edge.
They have lost 30% of their habitat. Saving some of these species is going to take work.

It breaks my heart that so many reptiles are in danger. Reptiles are so fragile anyhow.
Of course the thought of losing koalas is unbearable.
This is an emergency on a scale we have never seen before. It is going to require a response beyond anything that has ever been done before. It is important that we act to save the animals, but we won't know for years if we can make a difference.
I just hope that everything we can do is enough to make a difference.
