Spay and Neuter Awareness Month
#1
February is spay and neuter awareness month.  The Ottawa Humane Society has put out a list of reasons why spaying and neutering is a good choice for your pet. IU has also refuted some misconceptions about the procedure and its effects.

In this month we also celebrate World Spay Day.

This is very important. If we spayed and neutered our pets we would not struggle with the problem of so many unwanted pets.
Learning that there are health bonuses to spaying and neutering is just a bonus. I hope anyone who is hesitating to spay or neuter their pet will think about all the positive reasons to do so. If cost is a factor there are often veterinary clinics set up at Humane society shelters that will neuter and spay our pets at reasonable prices.
There is no reason to leave a pet un-neutered.  So please if your pet is not neutered or spayed, this is a good month to take care of it.
