24 cats rescued from a hot car

Employees at a nearby convention centre in Los Angeles noticed a parked car with cats in it. The car was already 50C when the cats were rescued. There were 24 of them. The heat was so intense that they were close to death. They are being closely monitored and so far they have all made it.

First I have to ask why there were 24 cats in one car. It does seem kind of odd. Also, why were they left in a car. Everyone knows how dangerous that is. Every year some animals die in hot cars. There can't be anyone out there who doesn't know the dangers.
