Rare white headed grizzly bear seen in Banff
Lucky people visiting Banff spotted a young grizzly bear with a normal brown body and a white head. This has never been seen before. It is unknown why this has happened. It is probably a mutation that has not been seen before. There is already an all white grizzly bear in the area. It is unknown if they are related.

The bears in the Banff area are getting interesting. I can understand a white grizzly happening. There are variations in colour. A white headed bear is something very different. None of our North American bears have markings. They are all solid coloured. There may be variations in colour, but not in pattern. It will be interesting to see if he stays white headed as he grows up. I wonder if there will be more born with white heads.
