World Bee Day is coming. Thursday May 20, 2021 is world bee Day. Prepare to celebrate it.

As much as there are other world days I want to celebrate and consider the most important. This is the most important celebration there is. Bees are an important part of the survival of life as we know it. Bee pollinated plants span the globe from east to west and north to south. Even on the top of a mountain ridge I saw a tiny bee pollinating a tiny flower. Without that bee, that flower would not produce seed and its species would die out. Much of our food is dependent on pollination.
There are other pollinators, but bees are the main pollinators. Also the things that are killing our bees are also killing other pollinators. Pesticides poison everything.
Sure we have some wind pollinated food sources, but there is a lot that we would miss if we didn't have bees. The world would be a less beautiful place with out flowers.

There are many groups celebrating the day. Each country has its own special events.

We all have our ways to celebrate and help the bees. On May 18 I will be planting about 200 flowers in a garden that is a bee friendly garden. The bees have been enjoying the spring flowering shrubs. Now I am going to give them flowers that will bloom all summer. I never use pesticides or fertilizers. Whenever I can I try to plant native plants to help our native bees. It is the least I can do. Bees do so much for us. If we all do something, even a small thing, it will help.
