Hundreds of migrating birds died after hitting New York sky scrapers. The ground was littered with their bodies in the morning. Volunteers
from NYC Audubon collect the bodies and catalogue them. They also rescue the few that survive. They picked up 77 living birds and treated them. Thirty-five of those birds survived to be released.

This happens every year during the spring and fall migrations. Every year the building owners are asked to turn down the lights at night so the birds are not drawn into collisions. The building owners are asked to do things to make the building windows visible to birds. Every year volunteers pick up hundreds of dead birds during migration season. Even though building owners claim to care about birds, every year the death toll in horrific.
TURN OUT THE LIGHTS !
Is that too much to ask?
