Mistake leads to death of boarding pet
#1
Before going on holiday, Sue Peoples placed her cat Jac in a cattery. They were supposed to care for her while her people enjoyed their vacation.
Instead Jac was given to another family. She ran away and was lost. Her people came back and searched for her. Eventually she was found dead.
She now rests in their garden.
Sue filled a complaint against the cattery and won.

Jac only has three legs. How could  a three legged cat be given to another family by mistake.
Even the most basic labeling system would mention the missing leg. Clearly the cattery was careless about labeling Jac.
It should not have been possible to give out the wrong pet.

There need to be some standards for boarding facilities. They charge for their services so they should be regulated and inspected.

Cats are better at home. It would be safer to have a pet sitter come to your home and care for your cat there. If there is no trusted friend or neighbour then a local cat sitter would still be safer than a large boarding facility.
It is not easy to take a vacation when you have pets.

Sad as it was that they found Jac dead, it would have been worse not to find her. They would always wonder what happened.
