Taxi driver fined for dumping blind man and his guide dog
#2
From the article:

"In a witness statement, Mr Mills said he felt uncomfortable as Ali gave the impression he 'didn't like dogs', told him to stop Percy 'from looking at him' and 'moaned' about the hound throughout the journey."

Dogs are considered "unclean" by many, but not all, Muslims. There have been previous cases where Muslim taxi drivers have refused to carry guide dogs. You may also recall the case of a bus driver who ordered a blind person with a guide dog off a bus. We discussed it on this forum.

However, in the UK and many other countries, blind people have a legal right to have their guide dog with them on public and private transport. Those who flout that law can expect punishment from the authorities.

The man in this case deserves to lose his licence, as he abandoned a blind man in an unfamiliar area. His guide dog would not know the way home from there. It was callous and dangerous behaviour on the part of the taxi driver.
