Many people rushed to adopt pets when the pandemic lockdowns began. In some places, as things open up, people are dumping their lockdown companions.
This is not happening in Australia. Pet surrenders are actually down from the usual amount. People in Australia brought pets into their lives when the pandemic began and they are keeping them.

Well done. I hope people in other areas pay attention. A pet is a commitment and seems some people get that. It says a lot about a country that they treat their animals well. People brought animals into their lives to help them through a difficult time and now they are being loyal to those animals.
