Snake Rescuers
#1
I am delighted to hear about people who are doing such good work for snakes in their area.

The world needs more people like this. Snakes are the most despised creatures on earth. People hate them who have never even seen one.
I think what they are doing is wonderful and I hope the idea spreads.

The serpent in the Garden of Eden has a lot to answer for. I'm sure the seemingly innate fear and loathing people have for snakes stems from that tale.
I've never handled a snake and am somewhat fearful of them but I DO respect their right to be here and am fascinated by them.
It's great to hear that there are people prepared to do such good work.
Greeting from Wales.

This is the web site of the rescue I volunteer at.

A lot of the old religious stories mention snakes. I have no idea where such intense prejudice comes from. It is not reasonable.

If you ever got to handle one of my snakes you would realize there is nothing to fear. Like any creature, there is a difference between wild animals and pets.
The snake rescuers are saving wild snakes, but they deserve life as much as any creature. It wasn't so long ago that sharks and wolves were hated just as much as snakes. Attitudes change. Hopefully with regards to snakes the change comes soon.
