Zoos isolating birds because of bird flu
#1
Bird flu is spreading across North America and further. In response, zoos are bringing their birds off exhibit and isolating them. As a precaution  they are keeping them in smaller groups incase a bird gets infected. They are putting roofs on their exhibits and checking their mess to be sure their birds will not have contact with wild birds. Bird flu is already present in the wild bird populations.

This is a serious situation. The bird flu have infected a lot of farm birds and resulted in some massive culls.
Zoos have smaller numbers of birds and some of them are endangered and part of special captive breeding programs.
They can't risk massive culls of species that no longer have massive numbers. It is a lot of work, but the birds need to be protected.
I hope it is enough to get them safely through the summer.
