Toronto Raccoon poisoned
#1
Someone set up a live trap baited with bread soaked in anti freeze. (for you warm climate types, anti freeze contains a lot of methanol)
A young raccoon entered the trap and ate the bread. She immediately started vomiting and was in bad shape when she was found.
She was taken to the Toronto Wildlife Centre where they quickly did what was needed to save her. She seems to be recovering. They are keeping her a week to be sure, but she is already in one of their outdoor pens. It looks like she is going to be okay.

It is so fortunate that she was found in time. I just wonder who was so cruel as to set that trap up with poison.
They have been identified and are charged with animal cruelty.

We love our Toronto Raccoons. Why would anyone want to hurt them.

It sounds like the little raccoon is doing okay. They know who did it and the person has been charged.
It really is just a baby raccoon. Who poisons a baby.

This is going to be a teaching moment about how to deal with wildlife.
Poisoning is not to answer. Keeping our garbage under control would really help.
Raccoons live here. We need to get along with them
