"Bile Bears" in Vietnam

Vietnam banned the use of Bile Bears in 2005. Bile bears are Asian Black Bears and Sun Bears that were kept in small cages and used to extract bile for some kind of "traditional" medicine. Now that the Bile Bear farms are closed there are hundreds of bears in need of sanctuary.

There are groups working on providing homes for the bears where they can live out their lives in peace and comfort.
This particular sanctuary has been expanding and now houses a number of bears and runs an education center.
They are even adapting an area for older bears. Not every bear in Vietnam is rescued yet, but many are thanks to groups like this.
