I should do a bit of a search. Sometimes it is easier for me to find information about a Canadian case.
It seems that the sentencing has been delayed.

I think the longer this drags on the better. We do need to keep up the petitions and protests though.
Hi Catherine.
I have to say so far I haven't heard anything else about this case - I will definitely add to this thread if I do.

I think they postponed things. The courts do a lot of that. As soon as I hear something I will post it.

Why do they keep dragging it out. I know they will not do the right thing, but why do they put Emma through the anguish of waiting to find out how bad it will be. That is one of the cruel things about the court system.

Well, things could have been much worse. I did not know this until today: "At the time Czornobaj had come to park without leaving her hazard lights on as well as leaving her left door open". That was a mistake, and could be the reason for a custodial sentence, but I suppose she was rushing to help the ducklings.
The remarks of the prosecutor are very telling, however: "Responding to the sentencing, Prosecutor Annie-Claude Chasse told: ‘What we hope is that a clear message is sent to society that we do not stop on the highway for animals. It’s not worth it’." That is chilling, very chilling. Compassion has to be abandoned, it seems, when on a motorway. Just run them over. O tempora! O mores!

A custodial sentence is far too much.
A fine for parking dangerously....perhaps.....
If there were any tragic accidents as a result of her attempting to help these creatures, it was likely to be the fault of drivers who were travelling complacently, and probably very fast, and not able to make quick judgements.
I would honestly rather be bitten by a dog than go to dinner with Ms. Chasse.
