Paul McCartney requests the release of an abused elephant in India
#1
PETA investigated the condition of an elephant kept in a Temple in India. They determined that the elephant is not only being kept in unsuitable conditions, but also being abused. Sir Paul McCartney, on behalf of PETA has written to the Indian government. He has requested that elephant be released to a sanctuary. As he put it, "she has suffered more than enough" and deserves to spend the rest of her time on earth in a sanctuary.

Hopefully this letter will get results. If nothing else the publicity will put more pressure on the government to intervene on the elephant's behalf.
Someday all elephants should be out of the situations where they are attractions. They deserve to live when they can just be elephants, living the way elephants are meant to live. Sadly, it has to happen one elephant at a time.
