Marineland, Ontario agrees to move its walruses
#1
Marineland has been in the news a lot over its marine mammals. It finally gave up its beluga whales. Now after all these years it is willing to let its last two walruses go to live with other walruses. It is not settled as to where they are going but agreeing to let them go is an important first step.

Marineland has not been allowed to have trained marine mammal shows for years, but they have fought to keep their animals.
Finally, the walruses can move on to a better life. They should not have been in captivity in the first place. They need much bigger more natural conditions. Sadly, animals like these two walruses cannot be returned to the wild. The younger one was born in captivity. Since they are not permitted to capture more walruses, this should be the end of walrus displays for tourists. Ideally there should be a sanctuary for captive marine mammals like walruses or perhaps a properly accredited zoo with suitable facilities and people trained to care for the animals.
As soon as I know where they are going, I will post it.
