Bears that attacked two women will not be captured
#1
It is fall and the bears are preparing to den for the winter. There has also been a scarcity of salmon, which the bears need to gain weight for winter. The women who were attacked were in a wildlife management area. The area has been closed to humans so the bears can continue to get ready for winter.
The bears were very likely stressed by the circumstances and if left alone they will be no further danger to humans.

This is real progress in our thinking about wildlife. The bears are stressed about getting ready for winter. Humans were in their territory. Instead of removing the bears or even destroying them, the area has been closed off to humans. The decision recognizes that the area is the bear's territory, and they have a right to be there. I hope in future other bears get the same consideration.
