Giant otter found in Argentina
#1
Giant otters are native to Argentina, but they have not been seen in many years. Until recently that is! A young male was spotted on the Bermejo River.
These otters really are giant. They can grow up to 1.7 meters long. That is a big otter.
There is a project to return the otters to Argentina. There are otters ready for release in another area. Because of the sighting a young female will be brought into the area with the young male. The hope is that they will start a population of otters in the area.

It is amazing how many places are putting animals back in areas where they have been absent for a long time. I have never even heard of a giant otter and now I learn that they are being returned to their native habitat. There is lots to hope for in the future. Who knows what good will come of returning the otters to their natural habitat.
