Keeping Montreal's stray cats warm in the winter
#1
Montreal has a large feral cat population, as do many cities in Canada and elsewhere. The winters are very cold, so volunteers make insulated cat houses for them.
They are distributed where needed so cats have somewhere to shelter from the cold.
This is part of the TNRM, Trap, Neuter, Release, Maintain program that is trying to bring the feral cat problem under control.

The TNRM program is working, slowly. The feral cat colonies are shrinking in some places.  Eventually it will work. Some day there will not be thousands of feral cats
in the city. They are right that the city government does need to help. It is a big job and it needs some city funding and some city involvement.
As it is, 7,000 cats have been sterilized already. That means thousands of kittens are not being born out there on the streets.  Maybe some day no kittens will be born on the streets. It is a goal to work towards.
